THE TERRIFYING TAPE LIBRARY

Happy Halloween! It's a hard working Halloween for us as the Christmas charge continues, but we're definitely not complaining! We've got lots of TV campaigns going off to station, Wynsors October product aired last weekend and the Black Friday campaign is currently in animation whilst we finish off a whole host of TV campaigns for exciting new DVD & Blu-ray releases. We've also got loads of DVDs and Blu-rays currently being authored by our team to make the Christmas release list, with some absolute classics on their 1st Blu-ray release!!, so keep your eyes peeled for more news on those later.

To get us in the mood for Halloween, we decided to visit the spookiest place in Phaebus towers... The Tape Library! In a time many moons ago, all media would be created for, and stored on 'tapes' (I know, crazy right?). Down in the basement lurks hundreds of Digibeta master tapes & rushes, HDCAM SR master tapes, MINI DV rushes and even the dreaded... BETACAM SP!! There're even some film reels, just to prove how long we've really been in the business. Anyway, here's the story from our recent visit. You can also test yourself to see how brave you are half way through! What would YOU do in the terrifying Tape Library?

GOING UP!

The new DVD box set of 'Grace & Favour' is now in all stores!

Yours truly were kindly commissioned by Eureka Video to create the DVDs of the BBC sequel series to 'Are You Being Served?'. From encoding the source material and designing the menus to implementing all the features and even subtitles!... It was a great journey through classic BBC sitcom history.

Speaking of history... We've recently been having a clearout at the Phaebus offices. The amount of old media equipment and technology we have floating around the basement really shows how long we've been in the business! For all the editors out there, here're some images of the old Avid Symphony Suite we've had lying around. Is there a market for 'Retro' Post Production equipment?

PHAEBUS FESTIVITIES

With everyone here booked in to see Star Wars (WHICH IS AMAZING!) this week, we almost forgot about Christmas! But after a busy couple of months, we're all ready to go home for plenty of food and alcohol.

Back in November, we managed to pop down the road to the 'Altered Images Ltd – 4K Roadshow' event. It was a fantastic show covering most things 'Post Production' (and more) and we would highly recommend attending the next one. Sony, JVC, Avid and loads more were all exhibiting and the topic on everyone’s minds was 4K capabilities and the future of the format. It was great to see a load of old faces (and meet some new ones). The Avid talks on how they plan to incorporate 4K and beyond into their future software were very interesting and got us really thinking!

London was calling earlier this month as we sat down to an interesting meeting with Eureka, excited to see what the New Year brings. And as ever, we enjoyed our usual catch up and gossip with the Kaleidoscope crew over some tasty grub.

Back in the office, it's been business as usual. The Phaebus Christmas tree is up, complete with fresh Candy Canes! The Wynsors World of Shoes Black Friday and Winter Sale TV adverts are done and dusted (look out for the Winter Sale Ad over Xmas). And finally, we've got a whole heap of projects in the pipeline for 2016, including a very exciting cinema trailer / TV campaign, plus a long list of Blu-ray titles we'll be authoring to hit the stores.

We'd like to thank all our clients for a great year and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Eat, drink and be merry!!
